The CDR Technician course was developed by Collision Safety Institute and is the prerequisite for attending CSI’s CDR Analyst course. The eight hour Technician Level I course is an in-depth introduction to the Bosch CDR toolkit hardware and software using the standardized CSI course curriculum. The follow-on Technician Level II course allows students to receive supervised hands-on practice using the CDR hardware and software. Students will become confident in imaging data from modules in vehicles using the DLC (OBDII port), as well as imaging data by connecting directly to modules. The course also covers practical booster and adapter applications, and applying external power to in-vehicle systems to allow the technician to access data through the vehicle’s DLC.
All student material will be distributed on a thumb drive instead of in printed format. The thumb drive will contain student manuals in Adobe PDF format as well as several other reference files in various formats. You will be able to make notes within the PDF files during class, and your notes and the manuals will be searchable during and after the class. You are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop to class so that you can follow along with the course material. If you do not already have the CDR software installed and activated, we will help you install the free reader version of the current software on your laptop at the beginning of the class.
You will not need to bring a CDR toolkit or a laptop with licensed CDR software to the class, but if you have your own equipment, we encourage you to bring it so we can help you learn to use it.
